Polydactyl cats (aka cats with "thumbs") are a product of epigenetics!
Although they contain the gene for extra tootsies, the exact number of added toes is a product of the epigenomic changes to local tissue developing in the womb.
​
One of my favorite authors, Ernest Hemingway, famously owned specifically polydactyl cats.
